Port state control
Answer the inspector from what you actually hold
An inspection is won or lost on documentation, not on argument. PSC readiness lets you record an ongoing port state control finding by finding, hold each finding against the documents on the vessel record, and see immediately which findings you can evidence and which you cannot.
What gets recorded
- · Port, country, date and authority
- · Inspector's reference
- · Each finding as its own line, with area and severity
- · Documentation status per finding: documented, partly documented, not documented
- · The response text you intend to give, kept with the finding
- · Status: ongoing, closed or detained
How it is used on board
- 1. Open the vessel and register the inspection: port, country, date, authority, inspector's reference.
- 2. Enter the findings as the inspector gives them, one per line.
- 3. Mark each finding documented, partly documented or not documented, and link the document that supports it.
- 4. Write the response you intend to give. It stays with the finding, so the next inspection starts from a record instead of memory.
- 5. Close the inspection, or mark the vessel detained. Either way the history stays on the vessel.
What this is not
The maritime regulatory basis is not loaded yet. Analysis therefore rests on the documents you upload and the particulars you register for the vessel. No convention or regulation reference is shown until the basis is in place.
It will not tell you whether a finding is lawful or how an authority will rule. It gives you an ordered record of what was found, what you can evidence and what is open.
